The Tallinn Design Festival (TDF), the biggest design festival of the region, celebrates its 20th anniversary with a wide-ranging program under the slogan ‘Design for All’.
The festival is based on four pillars: talks and exhibitions on design success stories for experts and enthusiasts; community-engaging events; a diverse satellite program; and designcommerce. The festival has been awarded by EFA with the quality label EFFE. TDF also places strong value on context and venue, once again choosing the Krulli Quarter—a space where historic industrial architecture meets contemporary creativity—as the main festival hub. For the third time, the festival will take place in the unique metal plant at Krulli Quarter.
Over the course of the festival week, nearly a hundred diverse events will explore how design can enrich everyone’s lives—creating a world where empathy, care, and human-centered thinking are not the exception but the norm. The festival’s mission is to make design less abstract and more understandable, inclusive, and accessible.
TDF highlights the real-world impact of inclusive design, where each person’s unique needs and experiences are placed at the heart of every decision. It encourages us to consider how size, shape, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, education, income, culture, customs, and even diet influence how we interact with the world—and how these factors must be reflected in the way we design products, spaces, and services.
The key event of the 2025 edition is the conference “Design for All: Celebrating Diversity, Creating Equality”, featuring internationally recognised experts such as Patricia Moore (USA), Rama Gheerawo (UK), Jakob Rosin (Estonia), Cameron Sinclair (USA) and other accessibility specialists from the USA, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Denmark and Estonia. The forum is organised in cooperation with EIDD – Design For All Europe and the Estonian Chamber of Disabled People.
Inclusive design is particularly relevant in Estonia, where a rapidly ageing population and shifting demographics call for more thoughtful design solutions.
The festival’s Design Schools area will host participants from Estonia, Poland, Hungary, and the Global Creative Graduate Showcase, Arts Thread, the world’s leading digital platform for emerging designers and serves as a launchpad for design students and recent graduates to showcase their portfolios and connect with industry professionals. The International Haapsalu Graphic Design Festival will present the best poster designs of the year.
In addition to exhibitions and talks, the festival offers a rich mix of social, educational, and networking events, including:
The anniversary opening party with a fashion show by Reet Aus
Design Talks: Creative Leadership by Rama Gheerawo and Patricia Moore
DOM Sustainable Fashion Show, spotlighting Estonia’s leading eco-conscious brands
