The original painting BIRDHOUSE contains 30 different colors. Achieving the right tones requires time and dozens of layers. When painting, I always search for a certain glow — a light that makes the artwork come alive. Bright colors alone are not enough; it is their relationship and harmony that truly matter.

It took me years to find pigments with the right qualities, and today I mix them from different brands of acrylic paints. I also follow one rule: I never use paint directly from the tube. Instead, I always mix different shades together beforehand. This means my black is never purely black and my white is never purely white.

A painting is finished when the eye can move across the surface freely and without disturbance.
